edec’s Design Services division produces high quality electrical
engineering design. The starting point is always the client and the design is
executed according to the requirements and wishes of the client. In general
terms, the services are divided as follows:
Drafting Design
The Drafting Design phase involves making the initial drafts based on the
client´s requirements, effectively mapping the upcoming development through
careful analysis of the specifications and establishing the logical construction
of the systems required.
Materials Sourcing
The planning of materials sourcing is carried out according to the draft designs,
which are the basis for requesting quotations and ultimately placing orders. We hold
excellent contacts with many equipment suppliers that enable us to find the best
possible options for implementation in every case. According to the wishes of our
client, we can either present an array of contending quotations from different
suppliers for a final decision by the client, or proceed and decide on the most
appropriate option ourselves, with permission from our client. Technical design
documents produced during this phase consist of:
System descriptions:
These are explanations of how systems function from a general viewpoint through
to more detailed content, including equipment, important fittings, power supplies,
safe state definitions; system operation during start-up, shutdown and emergency
situations; interfaces to other systems; system redundancy in different environmental
conditions; points of caution; recommended tests and maintenance schedules.
System flowcharts:
These are visualisations of the operation of complex systems that can be produced
at different abstraction levels in order to represent different levels of detail.
Location drawings:
These are technical drawings that represent the topographical layout of a system
in its intended site and the physical locations of all equipment.
Equipment lists:
These list the exact equipment requirements for each system in terms of technical
specifications and quantity, and aid the procurement of systems.
Implementation Design
The Implementation Design phase is performed in order to produce all technical
documentation necessary to construct and install the system in its intended site,
comprising:
- Cabling and connection drawings
- Operational charts and explanations
- Spare part lists
- User instructions
- Maintenance instructions
